Everything Everywhere All at Once

"Crises are part of life. Everybody has to face them, and it doesn’t make any difference what the crisis is."

Jack Nicklaus (He is widely considered to be one of the greatest golfers of all time)

The movie "Everything Everywhere All at Once" won seven! Oscars. It doesn’t happen often that after watching a movie I feel the urge to write a post. This movie is so relevant for what we are all experiencing today: overcoming covid19, fighting global warming, quiet quitting, supply chain issues, and lately inflation. What does a business owner do? Give up or think like the hero in the movie to become a better version of themselves -reinvent your business, make it current and relevant. The best inventions are made in times of distress.

The movie has many lessons for life and to business owners: everything is possible, think outside the box, have patience, believe in yourself, know your strengths, and find your own happiness

The movie follows Evelyn Wang, a Chinese American immigrant who, while being audited by the IRS, must connect with parallel universe versions of herself to prevent a powerful being from destroying the multiverse. The film is a reminder that anyone can chase their dreams and be whatever they wish to be, regardless of age, background, or circumstances. This is why even today when situation looks dire, you as a business owner can find ways to excel. This journey in the movie shows that it's never too late to start pursuing your passions and that there's always more than one way to achieve your goals. You need to have perseverance and resilience. The hero of the movie faces numerous challenges throughout the film, but she never gives up, she keeps pushing forward, adapting to new situations, and finding creative solutions to problems. This attitude of innovation is crucial in chasing your entrepreneurial dreams and achieving your business goals even when it seems dire and there is no solution in the horizon.

Ke Huy Quan, the actor who is playing Evelyn Wang’s husband, was a child prodigy when he was acting besides Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Temple of doom, he also had a role in the film Goonies. Since then, he couldn’t fulfil his life desire to become an actor and he almost abandoned acting. In his inspiring Oscar winning speech he said that he thought of quitting, but his wife always pushed him to believe in himself.

Do you have supporting people in your surrounding? If not find them. Surround yourself with people that energize you and not people who suck your energy, leaving you feeling empty. I found out that most business owners who have such support tend to be more successful than those who doesn’t.

You need to find your passion, your “Why”, have Grit, perseverance and find a lot about your core strengths and about who you are as a business owner, and a CEO. Once you appreciate what you already have, and work on your strengths, it can be a wonderful journey. Life gives you many directions to choose from, and each turn you make can take you to another form of success (dimensions or other worlds in the movie). Success has many faces, and it is your responsibility to look at what you have and take yourself to the next level of success.
