Yoga the science of integration

Updated: Mar 25, 2020

"Yoga is not a religion. It is a science, science of well-being, science of youthfulness, science of integrating body, mind, and soul." Amit Ray (author philosopher and spiritual master)

One of my favorite position in Yoga is the TREE pose.

You start by standing straight with your feet together, inner ankles and inner knees touching. Spreading your toes. Distributing your weight evenly across both feet. Breathing. Resting your hands on your hips. Shifting your weight onto one leg, for example: the left leg. Bending your right knee and placing the sole of it on the inner thigh of left leg, high up as you can.

Resting your right foot against the left thigh to maintain balance.

As my Yoga instructor says: “Don’t forget to breath.” 😊

When you feel balanced, slowly press your palms together in prayer position at your chest. Fixing your gaze on one, unmoving point in front of you.

Inhaling as you extend your arms overhead, parallel and facing to each other. The fingertips reaching up.

Then you just stand still (like a stable rooted tree), breathing, relaxing. Hold for up to one minute, and then repeat for the same amount of time on the opposite leg.

Tree pose increases balance, focus, memory and concentration. It also strengthens the ankles and knees.

When you are in the Tree pose, several things happen – the awareness is focused on the breathing, the hands in the air and the standing foot that is rooted to the floor. Strengthens your core.

Business owners need similar balance in their business.

Like Yoga, business is also the science of integration, so it works smoothly and effectively like a well-oiled machine. Orchestrating all parts together to the same goal – having your vision come to live while all parts of the organization are fully integrated. While balancing on one foot teaches you to sway gently like a tree in the wind, steady and sure no matter what the outside circumstances may be.

Regarding the business world, this position, has few components:

The root leg - is the stability, the ongoing delivery that bring abundance to the business.

The bent leg - is the lead conversion, the ongoing fresh leads that flows in the company.

The hands - are the marketing and lead generation that the business needs - Tell the world ‘we are here’.

Breathing - is the finances and specially cash flow. Without it there is no oxygen to the business. It’s the number one reason most businesses are closing. Breathe - invoice and collect.

Awareness - is the leadership and management, that every business need. Being rooted to your vision and your company values.

As the leader of your business you need to orchestrate all parts to work together and to understand that no part can live without synchronize to the other parts. Cash flow issue cannot be resolved without solving other areas in the business, like sales, collection, customer service and more.

Hiring the right people has strong connection to company values, your vision, on-boarding, training and mentoring.

Another aspect of the tree pose - standing on one foot alone (only doing technician work) won't get your vision be fulfilled. You must work on your business (breathe, put your hands in the air and have full awareness) in order to grow it to its true potential – the vision.

At any point in your business, you need to remember letting your awareness - your vision - navigate between the delivery, the cash flow and all other parts in the business.

Let the systems of the business run smoothly together like a synchronized machine, to have the integration of all parts. Exactly like in the tree pose.
